Mechanical-biological
waste treatment has become developed into a standard treatment process for
residual waste treatment. Fractions with highly calorific value such as
plastics are used to obtain energy by being made into substitute fuel.
Shredding of the waste to be treated is an important mechanical process stage
here. The shredding usually takes place in multi-stage plant consisting of pre-
and post-shredding. Apart from its post-shredders that have been established in
the market for many years, WEIMA Maschinenbau GmbH has now rounded off its
product range with an entirely newly developed, universal PreCut pre-shredder (photo).
The machinery producer is thereby positioning itself as a complete system
supplier for multi-stage shredding plants.
Multi-stage treatment guarantees highly efficient production and has asserted
itself on account of the high efficiency that can be achieved. It enables simple
separation of material streams into highly calorific and medium calorific
fractions that are therefore separately marketable.
The new PreCut single-shaft shredder enables optimum pre-shredding of waste from
industry, households and trade, paper, non-cellulose waste from papermaking,
carpeting, etc. The practical design of the machine guarantees optimum
interconnection of the interfaces of the individual processing steps and thereby
high profitability of the entire plant.
The working width of the rotors in the new PreCut pre-shredder amounts to 3,000
mm, with rotor diameter of 1,200 mm. Drive power lies between 250-400 kW and
total weight of approx. 30-50 t. The rotor is fitted with 140 mm x 140 mm
cutting-turning crowns that can be reversed four times, whereby low wear costs
can be achieved. Drive is provided by a high torque motor or by an optional
conventional drive system. The throughput amounts to approx. 10-25 t/h, with
granulate size of 100-300 mm.
